Google Analytics now compliant with GDPR: Keep your data safe

Following the fallout on Facebook data scandal involving Cambridge Analytica which is accused of collecting the personal data of 90 million Facebook users, the Google Analytics system announces new data retention features.

Google Analytics is conform on the data protection regulation

Google has announced how it intends to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will take effect on May 25th.Google explain that is data retention controls allow users to set a delay before the data stored by Google Analytics is automatically deleted.Users will be able to choose to keep the data on the Google Analytics server for 14 months, 26 months, 38 months or 50 months before deleting them automatically. They will also be able to opt for no automatic expiration.The moral of this story, it is better to reduce the risk of data breaches, by not collecting unnecessary data or by removing them!
